Southampton Story Club

Welcome!

About Story Club

Since the last century, Southampton Story Club has been meeting on the first Thursday of every month to tell each other stories. Anyone can join and we have both professional and amateur storytellers among us, as well as a few not-yet-tellers. We are an entirely not-for-profit group that exists purely for the enjoyment of our members.

What happens at Story Club

The stories told can range from well-known fairy-tales to anecdotes and original stories. There may also be poetry and music and some chat. Club members are just as varied and each time we meet is different from the last.

The evening is very informal, so if you are curious just pop along, say 'hi' and we promise not to make you stand up and recite the Mabinogion, unless you can do it in fifteen minutes, that is.

We have met at a range of venues but have found our home at The Art House. Occasionally, we may meet elsewhere or host additional events, so please check back here for up-to-date information. Alternatively, contact us to be added to our mailing list or use our RSS feed.

What to find on this website

We would like to post details of future events here, photos from previous events and information about our members. Unfortunately we are struggling with the website and hope to improve it in the future. There is also an RSS news feed that you can use to keep up to date with changes on this site.

Latest news: Storyclub Thursday 5th August

If you aren't off on your hols, why not spend an evening in the delectable company of tellers of tales. Several people have turned up recently and spun us a yarn for the very first time - why not give it a try? Was anyone listening to Unity 101 Community Radio on Monday last, when some of our members could be heard telling tales out of work? There's a rumour they may be around with their roving mike on Thursday, so you might have a chance for stardom! But come along even if you have already had your fifteen minutes of fame.
